"How jealous are you for the truth?"
In recent years I have been finding myself focusing on the wrong and being determined on the right. The results of this kind of mindset lead to insecurities/hardship/worries/hatred/foulness/bitterness - but within that picture of my life there is still the idea of hope & love. There is still a picture of the greater good; but my focus is off. For determination without focus will come up faulty; I can’t truly see the picture, for my mind is a wandering & emotional organ. We get caught up in this life, worried about who to impress, worried about the thoughts that others have about us- we worry about our destiny, we look for ways to be praised, we get caught up in work, about getting that big promotion, about getting that raise, about getting that new office- so we can impress. We find ourselves complaining about what we hate- talking about loved ones like they are our enemies. & we pretend that we don’t do the exact same. But outside of our broken and false reality - there is a bigger picture. One that is far more beautiful than anything you could imagine - a true reality of love, self control, wisdom & truth. Where the promotions don’t matter- where impressing anyone other than yourself doesn’t matter- where hate is a foreign language- where love is your first and second nature. & it just takes a little focus to capture it. The ultimate reality, is Jesus.
I fight this often. And I would like to think I’m not alone. I am reminded through some great apostolic men - along with scripture - that we have to fight for the victory of reality, we have to fight and not let go of God to receive the victory of peace and understanding. Its within the story of Jacob- when he wouldn’t let go of God until he was blessed, for he knows that if he didn’t receive a blessing before he saw Esau, it will surely end in death, so he wrestled all night, to the point of a broken hip, and God said to him:
“Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” Genesis 32:28
The outcome was a blessing & a reality that was far greater than the idea of death- and they walked peacefully next to each other. The picture was suddenly in focus for Jacob, and he knew he needed help for it to be revealed. He needed a blessing, and fought to the point of a broken bone to receive it.

Lord, let us be a people of focus & true reality. Let us not wander any longer - for it only leads to death.
